My own cat bus
5:57 AMこんにちは! Good afternoon~ After a nice lecture from our fellow Myoushinji-in temple priest, and a kickstart meditation session, we're off to kamikatsu on a 4 hour bus ride!
Today I'm getting hit with a major allergy attack, that may or may not be a cold. bluh (´Д` ) But hopefully it wont last long.
I packed up on tissues and took some allergy meds. Drugged up and ready to samurai my way through.
Before we all got on the fantasy Japan land bus- I'm dubbing it the cat bus, we got on a 14 minute train ride to the bamboo forest and shrine
Bamboo up to the stars and beyond.
This shrine was for those who wanted to do well in school, or pass exams, and find a life partner! My favorite thing is seeing all the notes, wishes, and offerings.
What makes me fall in love about this culture is the meaningful everyday actions towards everything. Whether or not people here are aware they are doing it, they are being mindful. They are all aware, and paying attention to the here and now (for the most part) when it comes to the little things in life. I have never come across a country where they put so much meaning and soul into their customs like decorating the shrines, or maintaining a space with lots of detail and love. This concept is something I think Americans, in particular, lack.
of course I couldn't resist buying croquettes. This one was filled with beef :3c
Next is Kamikatsu! I'm sure there will be more shrines, more meditation, and more spending.
Cat bus for 5+ hours & a cold is not a happy experience.
Were crashing in a station hotel, which is p shady around the streets and theres bars to pick up girls everywhere. At least the room is kinda cute!
Feels like a dorm room so I've adapted efficiently.
Across the street there was an "italian" restaurant! What I had was pretty close to the real thing. Looking at other peoples plates I realized most of them were eating with chopsticks. You're ruining the italian theme!!!
Today was pretty bland, with lots of travel. Hopefully tomorrow this cold wont be so bad, and I can get on the next ride for fantasy Japan land without any casualties.
The cat bus driver wasn't too keen with us today. Lets hope tomorrows driver will come running 2 minutes late with a piece of toast in his mouth.
Love,
Mana
