Em Michelle Phan Makeup Review!

10:48 AM

I received my Em Michelle Phan Lipstick and Eyeliner deal yesterday in the mail!!! I've had my opinions about Michelle Phan's new make-up line, as well as her new found success. So I want to try posting here on blogger, rather than on my art blog!

I ordered Michelle's Cupcake Pink lipstick, "ro's gold" rose gold eyeliner, and as a bonus, I was able to get a sample of her life palette for free! I don't know why she signed her "P"like that tho, like can we talk about how that looks like a one testicle penis with a smiley face. I'm just bein' honest.

So her lip stick first. I got this lipstick because I'm not really a lipstick person (hahaha.) I don't like bold, bright looks on my face unless I'm dressing up for something very nice, or maybe for Halloween. My friend who had the opportunity to buy Michelle's line before me, let me try her lipstick which was a much more pungent color. I appreciated how Michelle's team was able to produce such a rich color, but the color was much too bold for my liking. The cupcake pink is a very light color that, at first, seemed a little too bright for my skin tone. But the more I blended it out, the better it felt and looked.  IT EVEN SMELLS LIKE CUPCAKES OKAY?

The lipstick feels like a chap stick, not like other lipsticks I have bought from my local drug store or even the expensive ones my mother let me try on that feel like they dry out my lips. This lipstick is very smooth on my lips, and almost feels as though it's hydrating them! I used it for my first day of classes and I felt cute and my lips felt great! I am extremely happy with my purchase, I really believe it's worth the price.

Next is the Eyeliner! This eyeliner is  called ro's gold, and it's a rose gold color,( very clever, Michelle.) Personally I could careless about what brand of black eyeliner I use (I like liquid and I use cheap brands that are just fine.) So I decided to choose a color instead. Reiterating, I don't like bold colors. I'd rather not wear some electric blue eyeliner that makes me look like a 5 year old who bought some make up from Justice Girls. I chose the rose gold color because it has a shine to it, and I can mix it well with brown, natural colored eye shadows.  I tried it which is why the end looks a bit dull, and I loved it. The color really stays as opposed to shitty brands that barely add anything to your eyes. I could definitely be persuaded to buy a black color from Michelle just because I really like how the color stays.

Finally, the sample life palette!!! To be honest, I was naieve and thought that maybe I'd get lucky and just get a very small version of the travel size palette. I was super happy to see that I got not just a nice palette of eyeshadows, but some lip gloss too!! Of course if I wanted the concealer and blush and shit I'd have to actually buy the thing. The eyeshadow is very rich in color, and easily creates a different mood to my eyes when putting the colors together. I'm excited to try watching Michelle's tutorial that comes with her eye shadow colors so that I'm able to post a picture of what this looks like on me! The lip application is also very soft and smells nice <3

This definitely makes me want to buy a life palette. Do I have the budget to spend 75$ on make-up? No. But if there comes a time in my life where I really need an organized palette of make-up for a potential interview or job offer, I think I would invest in Michelle. I would invest in quality, and innovation; two things that I really believe Michelle has created in this Life Palette idea of hers that became a reality. Michelle has been someone that I've admired for years. I admired her not just for her creative tutorials, but her way of living and her desire to pursue what she loves and be successful with it; something that is very hard to do in American society.

  1. It really does look like a penis, like wow, oh man.
Augh, Justice Girls. The things they produce are so gaudy, even for young girls.

I'm glad that Michelle's line went over so well with you, even the lipstick. She really knows her stuff, and it's good that she's the type that caters to a makeup user's needs. Because really, who wants chapped lips? Not a damn body.

$75 is pretty hefty though. If only money was more readily available, you know, ahaha. Also, I like the way she put her palette together. I don't know. I like that sort of pseudo-science feel to it. I can't describe it~

    Thanks for the review, ye.
