Life under the kotatsu

7:23 PM

Life underthe kotatsu is great you guys. Never leaving. Except we did early this morning. I just woke up from sleeping under it. Good morning :')

Koya-san is such a nice, quiet neighborhood. Temples are everywhere along with gift shops and places to eat. Being up in the mountain is much colder though, so it's the right time to be under a kotatsu ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

it's a cloudy day today, so the streets are quiet.

We did manage to get some snacks and some books :3c

Finally some down time in the kotatsu. I'd be pretty content with doing this all day. At 3pm we're all going to see the largest graveyard in the world (probably not in terms of size but in the amount of people who are buried)

They say that to this day they still can't count exactly how many people are buried. Some say 200,000 others  500,000. Pretty depressing but some people ask to be buried here to be with the founder of this mountain and holy grounds.

I found some melon bread!!! Slowly but surely all my fantasies are coming true.

For lunch my friend and I went to a small cafe and they served curry rice!! It tasted homemade I wish I had 6 stomachs.

THIS PLACE IS FULL OF CATS

Finally we made it to the graveyard and It was certainly an experience.

Samurais were buried here

It is said that kobodaishi sat on on that rock!! Very special rock.

Towards the end of the grave yard we couldnt take pictures, but it was a beautiful temple. The graveyard itself was impressive in the sense of size.

Some people got buried with their companies :0 this one was for those who worked with satellites!!

Before dinner we watched the first episode of the new poKEMON ORIGIN SERIES??!?!? It's a remake of the original red and green games!!!!! No ash or pikachu, but it does my old heart proud to know that kids will in fact know who charmander, squirtle, and bulbasaur are.

This temple does such a good job with the presentation. THEY FEED US SO MUCH FOod I'm not at these people's level.

Tonight was also my professor's birthday!! He was the one who really set up this trip, being the only westerner who can speak fluent Japanese. We are all very grateful for him <3

Slowly but surley my cold is getting better! Must be all the healthy food, excersise and meditation ε-(´∀`; ) maybe I should be doing that more often 8")

Today was a slower paced day, and tomorrow will be even slower! We have the whole day to ourselves! There are some cool temples we havent gone into, so hopefully a group of us will get to go. There will also be a lot of napping. After a nice bath I will end my day still under the warm and welcoming kotatsu.

Love,
Mana
