Holiday Healing

12:27 PM

This past thanksgiving weekend was really a weekend of healing for me. After being stuck for a month in the rut of school and anxiety, being home with my family and friends was like medicine. Being at Bryn Mawr is both a blessing, and a curse, I feel like. Only because I know that the amount of work and responsibilities we have on this campus is a little more than the average undergrad college. But being here has also helped me to grow and learn who I am as a person, and as a woman, so I have Bryn Mawr to thank for that. They always know when the whole campus is having a community heart attack so then they give us a break, just in time.

So thanksgiving was probably the best thanksgiving I've had in years! Usually it's a big family thing, and I guess back when I was younger I never really appreciated that because I was always with my family 24/7, why feel different? This is just with more food. But now that I'm older, and perhaps slightly more hormonal, I really loved being with my family, cooking with them, drinking wine with them and sharing stories with them! There was no pressure, no drama, and thus I felt very relaxed and slept a lot :)

I had the opportunity to eat Thanksgiving dinner with Ed's family, and that was a treat for me at least lmfao. His family is almost the complete opposite of mine: quiet. So this was a completely different thanksgiving dinner and i thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. This was also the first time that I had a thanksgiving dinner that wasn't with family members! So I had two thanksgiving dinners in one night, no one can compete with me. My food baby was bigger than yours.

The next day was Black Friday and my dad, sister and I went to the outlets. Never again will I go to the outlets. Place was packed, no reception, and I got some things but if I had the choice to shop online or go to the outlets I'd rather shop online. SO I DID. I managed to order my Christmas present early: em cosmetics's love life life palette, cushion lip balm, and another eyeshadow sample size in city glitz :) I can't wait for Christmas, I need that gold in my hands. Deanna let me have a sneak preview via Skype and she says it feels worth the price, which really excites me because the internet is an asshole and has been saying bullshit reviews about it being cheap. No. Leave my queen, be.

Continuing the talk of make-up, which apparently Deanna and I can do for hours without end, Deanna and I got together on Sunday and ended up at sephora. In hindsight, our wallets should have seen this coming. After a really nice lunch with sushi and dumplings, and some milk tea as we take a drive to get my hair cut, Deanna and I talk about Michelle phan's products for like an hour. As Jamie is blow drying my hair, Deanna and I look at each other and think, sephora. No. Bad idea. .... Or a really great idea. We ended up at sephora and explored the store, almost convinced that things were too expensive and we're about to leave the store. Until we find a 20$ Black Friday Stila eyeshadow palette.

We opened it and it was too good to be true...

"If you do it, I'll do it"

And then we ended up at the cash register. We agreed not to eat for a week while looking glamorous.

My school week, as a result of this lovely and healing weekend full of love and friendship, has been awesome. I've been on top of all of my work and emails, been eating healthy salads, drinking tea and kicking butt. This, I will take as a good sign that these last two weeks of school will go smoothly and I will finish strong. Hopefully those around me can also finish strong.
